Approach

Elizabeth's approach can be described as warm, calm and caring.  Through her experience in healthcare and social services, Elizabeth has come to value and embody the art of human connection and relationship.  Her style is relational and down to earth.  She strives to get to know each of her clients to create a custom and individualized experience.

Elizabeth uses technology as a cognitive aid and developing skills in organization to support function.

Elizabeth is trained in Somatic Experiencing and is working towards becoming a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner.

Values

Elizabeth believes occupational therapy to be a gateway of service for many who may slip through the cracks due to economic hardship and unjust societal exclusion.  Her personal mission is to create, through practice, a world where all are included, respected and valued.

Experience

Elizabeth has been a health educator for over a decade with experience working with underserved adults in HIV+, LGBTQIA2S+, Latinx and African American communities providing community-based services.  She is committed to protecting socio-economically and culturally vulnerable populations, through holistic service, with a strong emphasis on mental and spiritual well being. 

Leadership

Elizabeth has been a leader in health equity since 2008 and a health advocate since 1995. Elizabeth is the first in her nuclear and extended family to become a doctor. Some of Elizabeth’s recent leadership positions include:

  • Founder and Clinical Director of Holistic Community Therapy, the only OT practice of its kind internationally

  • President of the Oregon Mental Health Group Practice Association

  • Chair of the Diversity Taskforce - Occupational Therapy Association of Oregon

  • Adjunct Professor - Pacific University - Mental Health Occupational Therapy, Community-Based Occupational Therapy, Culturally Responsive Care in Occupational Therapy

  • Co-Author of a chapter in the 3rd edition (release date late 2024) of Occupational Therapy in Mental Health: A Vision for Participation

  • Developed the 1st, nationally recognized position for Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion on the Student Occupational Therapy Association executive board at Pacific University
